Why a real invoice, not just a Stripe receipt?
Many tattoo artists rely on the payment receipt sent by Stripe, thinking it is an invoice. It is not. Here are the differences that can prove costly in case of a tax audit:
- A Stripe payment receipt does not contain your SIREN, your VAT mention (« TVA non applicable, art. 293 B du CGI » for micro-entrepreneurs) or your continuous sequential numbering. It is proof of a transaction, not a tax document.
- In France, any service > 25 € TTC provided to a private individual requires the professional to issue a real invoice (service-public.fr F23208). Without it, you risk the fine set out in art. 1737 CGI.
- Stripe does not know your tax regime (franchise, standard, exempt). It cannot generate the mentions tailored to your situation. It is up to you — or to InkMeet — to do so.
- From September 2027, e-reporting becomes mandatory in France for micro-businesses: you will have to transmit each transaction's data to the tax authority. InkMeet prepares the export ready to push to an Approved Platform (PA).
4 steps — set it up once, it runs by itself
Enter your details
Once and for all in Settings: legal name, country, SIREN/SIRET, VAT regime, address, consumer mediator.
A client pays a deposit or a balance
Stripe collects, InkMeet detects the payment via webhook. Sequential invoice number assigned atomically.
InkMeet generates the PDF
Legal mentions applied according to your country. The PDF is stored, immutable, exportable. A deposit invoice, then a balance invoice referencing the deposit.
You and your client receive the invoice
The PDF is accessible in your workspace and sent to the client via a tokenised link. One-click ZIP export for your accountant.
InkMeet automatically tailors mentions to your country
Each country has its own tax requirements. The form in Settings → Billing details adapts to your country of activity, and the generated PDF applies the appropriate mentions.

We recommend Portuguese tattoo artists use InkMeet for management plus AT-certified software (Toconline, Cegid Primavera, Recibos verdes) for official issuance.

France: ready for e-reporting from 1 September 2027
E-reporting is the obligation for micro-entrepreneurs (from 1 September 2027) to transmit their B2C transaction data to the tax authority via an Approved Platform (PA, formerly PDP). InkMeet gets you ready for the leap with no extra work today.
- All your InkMeet invoices are stored with the structured data required by the DGFiP spec: net amount, VAT, payment method and date, customer identity, etc.
- When the official e-reporting format spec is finalised (during 2026-2027), InkMeet will add an `.xml` export that you can send to the PA of your choice (Pennylane, Qonto, Billit, Sage, etc.).
- No data migration required — your invoice history from your first use of InkMeet will be available for export.
Frequently asked questions about tattoo artist invoicing
Do I have to issue an invoice for every tattoo in France?▾
Yes, as soon as the service exceeds 25 € TTC (service-public.fr F23208). Below that, an invoice is only mandatory if the client requests it. To save you from working that out each time, InkMeet issues an invoice systematically on every payment, regardless of the amount.
Is the receipt sent by Stripe to the client enough as an invoice?▾
No. A Stripe payment receipt is proof of a transaction, not a tax document. It is missing the SIREN, the VAT mention (« art. 293 B du CGI » for micro-entrepreneurs), the sequential numbering and the service detail. That is precisely why InkMeet generates a proper invoice PDF in addition to the Stripe receipt.
Am I required to fill in the SIREN in InkMeet?▾
For tattoo artists in France/Germany/Spain/Portugal, yes — it is a mandatory invoice mention. The InkMeet onboarding includes a « Billing details » step that becomes `required` for those countries. For the UK and Japan it is recommended but not mandatory.
What happens if I change my details (new address, new SIREN)?▾
Your future invoices will use the new details. Invoices already issued remain unchanged — they contain a snapshot of the details at the time of issuance. This is in line with the immutability principle (art. 286 CGI).
How do the deposit invoice + balance invoice work?▾
When the client pays the deposit, InkMeet issues a « deposit invoice ». When they pay the balance, a second « balance invoice » is issued, which references the deposit invoice and deducts its amount from the total. This is the standard French practice for services paid in several instalments.
How long are invoices kept?▾
InkMeet keeps your invoices for as long as your account is active. French law requires 10 years (art. L.123-22 of the Commercial Code). You can export all your invoices at any time from Settings → My invoices to send them to your accountant.
What if I am a tattoo artist in Portugal?▾
Portugal requires the official invoice to be issued by software certified by the Autoridade Tributária (AT), or via the Portal das Finanças (recibos verdes). InkMeet is not AT-certified — so the PDF we generate is a courtesy copy for your clients, but official issuance must go through certified software such as Toconline, Cegid Primavera, or the portal directly. A banner in your InkMeet workspace reminds you of this.
Does the client need to receive the invoice?▾
Yes, this is fundamental. InkMeet automatically sends the PDF to the client by email after each payment, and also provides a tokenised link they can consult at any time from their InkMeet space (if they have an account) or via the public link.
What about September 2027 e-reporting?▾
E-reporting means transmitting each B2C transaction's data to the tax authority via an Approved Platform (PA). For micro-businesses, this becomes mandatory from 1 September 2027. InkMeet already stores all the structured data required and will provide an `.xml` export once the official spec is finalised. You will only have to push the file to your PA (Pennylane, Qonto, Billit, Sage, etc.).
Does InkMeet automatically transmit my data to the tax authority?▾
No. Transmission to the authority remains your responsibility: you choose your Approved Platform and validate the submission. InkMeet is a generation and export tool, not an approved PA. This leaves you with 100% control over your data.
Are my invoices tamper-proof?▾
Yes. Once an invoice is issued in InkMeet, its number and contents are permanently recorded in the database with a uniqueness constraint — it is technically impossible to modify or delete it after issuance. If you need to cancel an invoice, you issue a credit note that references the original invoice.
What if I invoice a company (B2B) rather than an individual?▾
InkMeet issues the same type of invoice. Note: from 1 September 2026, electronic B2B invoicing in France becomes mandatory via an Approved Platform (Factur-X / UBL). Since 99% of tattoo artists are B2C, this affects very few users. If you regularly invoice professional clients, contact us: we will look into integration via Billit (Stripe-approved partner).
Can I customise the logo, colours and format of my invoices?▾
Currently, the template is plain and standardised (Helvetica font, classic A4 layout) to maximise readability and compliance. The number prefix is customisable (INV-, F-, FACT-, etc.). More extensive customisation (logo, colours) will be added in a future update.
Is the consumer mediator mandatory?▾
In France, yes — it is article L.616-1 of the Consumer Code. Every professional must subscribe to a consumer mediator and include the contact details on contracts and invoices. InkMeet asks you to fill this in under your details (Settings → Billing details); it will automatically appear at the foot of all your FR invoices. Official list of mediators: economie.gouv.fr/mediation-conso.
If I leave InkMeet, do I get my invoices back?▾
Yes, unconditionally. Before or after cancelling your subscription, you can download all your invoices from Settings → My invoices, as individual PDFs or as a global ZIP. In line with GDPR and the legal portability obligation, your data remains yours.
