What is tattoo saturation?

Saturation refers to how fully the ink sits in the skin — a saturated fill looks solid and vibrant, while an under-saturated one looks patchy or translucent.

Good saturation requires experience and often multiple passes during the session. A first session may leave spots slightly under-saturated; touch-ups bring them up.

Examples

  • Solid black fill with no patchy areas
  • Vivid colour packing on a neo-traditional rose
  • Touch-up session to reinforce faded spots
