What is a tattoo touch-up?

A touch-up is a short follow-up session to repair small areas of a tattoo that healed unevenly, faded or need reinforced saturation. Most artists offer one free touch-up within a few months of the original session.

Touch-ups are normal — skin heals differently from person to person and from one body part to another. Fingers, elbows and feet are especially prone to needing them.

Examples

  • Reinforcing a lightened line after the scab has fallen off
  • Topping up a patchy colour fill
  • Sharpening a small detail six months later
